Secretary 2/Conservation Commission
The Town of Halifax Regulatory Department seeks qualified candidates for the position of secretary to perform clerical support duties under the direction of the Conservation Commission and day to day supervision by the Building Commissioner. The successful candidate will be responsible for 15.5 office hours plus two evening meetings per month. Duties to include taking meeting minutes, transcribe for approval, and general clerical tasks. Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and possess administrative support skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must, as well as being detail oriented and flexible. Must be able to meet deadlines, and be able to handle routine secretarial duties, often without direct supervision. Contact person for the public and other Town Boards and Officials and will also provide occasional support for the other clerical staff. A High School diploma or equivalent, as well as at least 2 years of secretarial/clerical experience, preferably in a municipal setting are preferred. Familiarity with Conservation matters and Open Meeting Laws helpful. Pay rate is Grade 4 $16.32/hr to $20.26/hr (depending on qualifications, years of experience and dependent on approvals from the Wage and Personnel Board). This position does not receive benefits. Police Chief

The Halifax Board of Selectmen is accepting applications for the position of Police Chief. The Halifax Police Department serves a community of approximately 7,700 residents with three sergeants, eight full-time patrol officers, and several part-time patrol officers. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree, with a Master’s Degree preferred, in criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration or related field; and ten or more years of progressively responsible experience with at least five or more years of increasingly responsible command experience, and a valid MA motor vehicle operator’s license and license to carry fire arms. Office Receptionist / Transportation Coordinator
The Council on Aging is now accepting applications for a full time (40 hrs/week) Office Receptionist / Transportation Coordinator for two Senior Vans beginning August 28, 2018. Must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid MA driver’s license. A CORI check is required for hiring. Job Description Summary:   Someone who fills this fast paced position must be professional, friendly, flexible and detail oriented, with knowledge of Aging Services. Accuracy and multi-tasking is a must with the receptionist performing several tasks at one time. Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality for all individuals served by the Council on Aging.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

·       Greet clients Professionally and friendly, directing them to appropriate department
·       Answer phone, keep log records, take messages, provide information to callers
·       Maintain data base daily/weekly with programs/events/transportation
·       Take reservations for transportation requests, maintain log sheets, do daily schedules
·       Maintain statistics regarding trips, mileage, passengers served, etc.
·       Good knowledge of Microsoft Office is needed to perform this job
·       Coordinates response to any emergency situations with Transportation Program
·       Maintain senior files, and work w/ Outreach Worker, as needed throughout the year
·       Make and maintain file folders for upcoming events/programs and purge as needed
·       Ability to relate well with employees, co-workers and volunteers
·       Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk & move frequently during work hours
·       CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain Certification(s)
·       Perform additional duties as needed and assigned by the Director

*EDUCATION:  Two years of experience in a fast-paced office with a High School graduation and a minimum of three years of responsible experience (preferably including work as an administrator assistant and/or transportation dispatcher/driver), or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent to this.

This position is for Adults who supervise or assist weekly recreation camps (On Stage, winter and summer camps), Special Events (Egg Hunt, Holidays in Halifax, Halifax in Lights, and Dances). The Supervisor may be asked to fill in for Recreation Director when the need arises if Director cannot be at event.  This is a position with limited hours during the year. Certification in CPR and First Aid are recommended but not required. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van. Pay is $19.53 per hour

Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. Instructors are used when needed. Instructors are used as gym monitors. Wage rate is $10.93 per hour.

Duties include supervising children in varies recreational activities. Instructors are also responsible for cleaning gym, lobby, and lobby bathrooms. Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. (Youth sports programs are responsible to keep fields clean.) Aide/ Helpers are used when needed. Aide/Helpers assist instructors as gym monitors. This position is seasonal. Wage rate is the MA minimum wage (as of 1/1/2016, that is $10.00/hr.
